Massage Therapy has been shown in some studies to be more effective than Acupuncture for migraine pain, and equally effective for tension headaches.
CranioSacral Therapy stems from osteopathic practice, is a very gentle soft-tissue manipulative approach, intending to restore balance and function of the cerebrospinal rhythm, which circulates cerebrospinal fluid within the semi-hydralic system of the membrane systems of the spinal cord and brain, the craniosacral system. This continuous membranous system, that includes the cranium, spine and sacrum is called the dura mater, meaning the hard mother. It is the tough, fibrous membrane forming the outermost of the three coverings of the brain and spinal cord.
A series of 4-6 treatments have been reported in practice to be very effective for both migraine and tension headache sufferers and benefits may be long-lasting. Source Reference: Migraines and Tension Headaches.
